Supervising First Aid for
Mental Health (Level 3)
Overview
This two-day course will give learners the knowledge and skills to recognise a wide range of mental health conditions and understand the type of support/therapy that is offered by healthcare providers. Learners will be aware of how to start a supportive conversation and how to signpost a person to appropriate professional help. Learners will also be able to recognise and manage stress & understand the impact of substance abuse. Learners will understand & know how to establish a first aid action plan for mental health, and know how to implement a positive mental health culture in the workplace.
Learners are not expected to diagnose or treat mental health conditions, but will gain the necessary knowledge to identify when a person may have a condition, and know where they can go to get help.
This is a Level 3 award, regulated by Ofqual, which sits on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).
The course can be delivered at your premises, or an alternative venue, for up to 16 learners.

Assessment
Assessment will be carried out through completion of two written assessment papers & a practical demonstration of the first aid action plan for mental health. Learners must successfully complete all parts of the assessment to be awarded the qualification.
Learners who complete the course, and are deemed to have reached the required standard, are issued with a certificate which is valid for three years.
