Emergency First Aid at Work
Overview
This one-day course is ideal for workplaces with fewer hazards, or a small number of employees, and will give learners the skills & knowledge to confidently provide emergency first aid to an injured person until they can be handed over to the emergency services.
This a Level 3 award, regulated by Ofqual, which sits on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).
The course can be delivered at your premises, or an alternative venue, for up to 12 learners.
This course is of a practical nature therefore casual clothes should be worn (we recommend trousers).
Goals
On completion of the course, all candidates will understand:
Principles of first aid
The action to be taken in the event of an emergency
The correct method of basic life support
Use of an Automated External Defibriliator (AED) & chain of survival.
Agenda
The course will include sessions on:
Aims & principles of first aid
What to do in an emergency
Management of the unconscious casualty
Assessment & treatment of a casualty who is wounded or bleeding
Assessment & treatment of burns & scalds
Dealing with seizures
Choking (Adult)
Resuscitation (Adult CPR) & use of an AED
Shock
Health & Safety law & First Aid Regulations
Assessment
Certification of the Emergency First Aid Course is dependent on successful continuous assessment of the student.
Assessment will be carried out through observation of a range of practical skills which the student will be required to demonstrate. The practical elements of the assessment are relatively straightforward, though there is a requirement for students to be fit and healthy enough to complete tasks such as CPR.
Students who complete the course, and are deemed to have reached the required standard, are issued with a certificate which is valid for three years.
